"Rowing is a sport for dreamers. As long as you put in the work, you can own the dream." -- Jim Dietz
The mission of the Hampton High School Rowing Club is to provide the opportunity through rowing for HHS students to develop their physical talents and competitive spirit while learning teamwork and having fun!
The Hampton High School Rowing Club was founded in 2019 to provide students at the school with an opportunity to participate in a sport that encourages physical conditioning, teamwork, and organized competition for young men and women. Our athletes practice throughout the spring and summer and compete in spring season regattas. Practices are usually four times a week, for at least two hours. With such a rigorous practice schedule, our students learn to balance both academic and athletic goals. The lessons of time management, concentration, endurance, dedication, and camaraderie are lifelong and invaluable.
Unlike other major sports, rowing is considered a club sport in the school district. As such, HHSRC receives no local or state funding from the school system and relies solely on member families, friends, and the community for financial support. Rowing is a tremendous sport and the purpose of the Club is to encourage participation for as many interested students as possible. It is also a very expensive sport that requires a lot of equipment and supervision. HHSRC makes every attempt to keep costs at a minimum for families, and supplements its budget with fundraising events throughout the year.
